Registration begins at the library after Memorial Day, on May 26, 2026.

![]() | Early Literacy ProgramFor newborns through those going into Kindergarten.Pick up a reading log at the library. Have your grownup choose your reading goal (number of minutes, 1 picture book, etc.) for each space. Fill a whole sheet = one desk pet or an accessory for it. Do as many as you can until July 31! (Kindergarteners can choose with their grownup if they want to do this path or the Kids’) |

(6th graders can choose whether they want to be in the teen program or the kids program)Pick up a reading log at the library. Every 20 minutes of reading, fill in a space. 12 spaces = a desk pet and habitat. 6 spaces = an accessory for your pet. Whole sheet = 1 raffle ticket for every-two-week drawings for big prizes! ![]() | Adult ProgramFor those 18 and over (or anyone finished with high school).Pick up a bookmark reading log at the library. Every 15 minutes of reading, fill in a space. A full bookmark (8 hours of reading) = 1 prize + 1 raffle ticket for every-two-week drawings for larger prizes! Do as many as you can until July 31! |
Weekly Events
During the summer we have weekly storytimes and activities at the library and around the community! These programs run through the months of June and July unless noted as year round.
Following our Safe Child Policy, children under 6 must be accompanied by an parent or caregiver over 13 at all times; children between 6 and 8 years of age are allowed to be at the library unattended for one hour during library programs. Library staff cannot monitor the wellbeing of unattended children who are not participating in the library program.
Teen Time (6th-12th Graders) – Tuesdays at 2pm @ WBPL
Activities, snacks, and chill fun for middle and high schoolers, 6th-12th grade, only.
Family Event Night (Everyone!) – Tuesdays at 6:30pm @ WBPL

Cubby Park Story & Playtime (Kids of all ages & caregivers) – Wednesdays at 10 am @ Cubby Park (301 Scott Drive)
Enjoy a story with Mrs. Buol and a fun activity, then play at the park! With help from our friends at West Branch Parks & Rec!
Bear Time Storytime (2nd-5th Graders) – Wednesdays at 12:30pm @ WBPL
Storytime with Mrs. Buol and activities just for older kids (and their grownups).
Thursday Theater (Everyone!) – Thursdays at 3pm @ WBPL
Afternoon movies suitable for all ages. Snack provided, bring your own drink! Movie list
Tater Tots Storytime (Birth to Pre-school-age kids & caregivers) – Fridays at 10:15am @ WBPL
Continuing all year round, a story and activity with Mrs. Buol for the littlest kids.
Summer Events for All Ages
STEAM Night with Mrs. Howard – 3rd Thursdays (June 18 and July 16) at 5pm @ WBPL
Continuing into the summer, a special two-hour set of fun activities that teach science, math and arts skills, geared toward older kids but any ages are welcome along with their grownups!
Decorate a Pot! – Tuesday, June 9 at 6:30pm @ WBPL
Get creative and paint your own plant pot with Ms. Mary!
Dragon Academy – Tuesday, June 16 at 6:30pm @ WBPL
Inventor & time traveler Brock Barnabas needs your help to travel back in time and learn how to defend against and tame dragons, using his amazing science-based inventions and techniques!
Ocean Odyssey, with Mississippi River Museum – Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30pm @ WBPL
Traveling touch tanks will bring live ocean animals to you! Break down common misconceptions surrounding sharks or stingrays, as we highlight the unique adaptations these animals have to survive. Afterward, participants will get the chance to touch a shark!
WORMS, with Miss Sarah from Cedar County Conservation – Tuesday, June 30 at 6:30pm @ WBPL
Come learn why worms are fantastic burrowing creatures that are the living, breathing engineers of the underworld.
Paint with Me! with Austina Scott – Tuesday, July 22 at 6:30pm
Artist Austina Scott will lead participants in painting a canvas paint of a sunflower. RSVP is required and space is limited for this event. Please call the library or fill out this Google form for each person before July 3 to register.
Coconut Bowling, with Miss Sarah from Cedar County Conservation – Tuesday, July 21 at 6:30pm @ WBPL
Is bowling your thing? Try Coconut Bowling and then have a coconut treat!
Summer Events for Adults
Celebrating America with Hoover Library Museum – Monday, June 29 at 6:15pm @ WBPL
The Hoover Library is coming with cool and unusual stuff from the Presidential Library vault! Geared towards adults and older teens, but kids old enough to listen are welcome.
