The Summer Library Program at WBPL is a fun program that encourages all ages to explore new books, activities, and ideas.

All ages are invited to read and do our themed activities this summer!

Early Literacy Program

For newborns through those finishing PreK.
Pick up a log sheet at the library and earn prizes for reading and doing literacy-building activities with your littles!

Children’s Program

For kids finishing Kindergarten through those finishing 5th grade.
Pick up a camp journal at the library! Read and do the activities each week to earn prizes!

Teen Program

For youth finishing 5th grade through 12th grade.
Read and review books, and come to the library for a special activity each week. Earn prizes along the way!

Adult Program

For those 18 and over (or anyone finished with high school).
Sign up and get your bingo card! Every bingo earns a prize from our grown-up treasure chest. Turn in your cards for a chance to win one of three grand prizes!

Storytimes and Programs

This summer, we will have storytimes and activities at the library and around the community! In-person programs run through the months of June and July.

Thursday Theater – Thursdays at 1:30pm @ WBPL

Can you spot Bigfoot around town? Bring us proof & get a prize!

Kickoff Party – BOOT CAMP! Friday, June 3rd at 6:30pm @ WBPL

Beyond the Beaten Path… onto the obstacle course!

Free snow cones and cotton candy!

Campfire Stories – Tuesday, June 14th at 6:30 pm @ Hoover Park Shelter

S’mores and stories with the National Park Rangers.

Fonziba Drums – Tuesday, June 28th at 6:30 pm

Interactive African Drum Circle and African culture display.

Absolute Science Butterfly Encounter – Tuesday, July 12th at 6:30 pm @ WBPL

Observe and interact with live butterflies up close!

21+ craft night! Make your own desert path in a jar.

Library… After Hours Movie (21 and over) – Friday, June 24th at 7pm

We’re the Millers movie night for adults 21+ only! We’ll make popcorn, feel free to bring your own beer, wine, or wine coolers.

Rock Painting (all adults welcome) – Friday, July 8th at 7pm @ WBPL

Adult craft! Paint rocks to hide around town. This is for anyone out of high school (so please, no alcohol).

Book Discussion – Third Tuesday of the month at 7pm @ WBPL

Monthly book discussion for adults! View the Book Club page for more details. In June we’ll be talking about the All Iowa Reads book for 2022!

Garden Swap – throughout June & July

Do you have extra plants to share? So do we! We’ll have a mini plant exchange going all summer long. Bring in cuttings from houseplants, extra garden plants, succulents, and whatever else you might have too many of, and take home some new babies. Is your garden producing too many vegetables? Feel free to bring those too! We’ll be sharing vegetables and herbs from the garden pots outside the library!
