Summer Library Program


The Summer Library Program at WBPL is a fun program that encourages all ages to explore new books, activities, and ideas.

As you read books and do activities throughout the months of June and July, you can earn PRIZES!

Registration begins at the library on May 30, 2023.

Challenges

All ages are invited to read and do our themed activities this summer!

Early Literacy Program

For newborns through those finishing PreK.
Pick up a log sheet at the library and earn prizes for reading and doing literacy-building activities with your littles!

Children’s Program

For kids finishing Kindergarten through those finishing 5th grade.
Pick up a camp journal at the library! Read and do the activities each week to earn prizes!

Teen Program

For youth finishing 5th grade through 12th grade.
Read and review books, and come to the library for a special activity each week. Earn prizes along the way!

Adult Program

For those 18 and over (or anyone finished with high school).
Sign up and get your bingo card! Every bingo earns a prize from our grown-up treasure chest. Turn in your cards for a chance to win one of three grand prizes!

Storytimes and Programs

This summer, we will have storytimes and activities at the library and around the community! In-person programs run through the months of June and July.

WBPL Teens – Wednesdays at 1:30pm @ WBPL

Activities, snacks, and fun for 6th Grade and up!

Thursday Theater – Thursdays at 1:30pm @ WBPL

Afternoon movies for all ages!

Storytimes with special guests – Fridays at 10:15am @ WBPL

Special Events for Families & Kids

Kickoff Party – Friday, June 9th at 6:30pm – Heritage Square

Free snow cones, cotton candy, and entertainment downtown during the Kickoff to Summer!

ISU Insect Zoo- Song of Bugs! – Tuesday, June 13th at 6:30 pm

‘Unia the cricket is on a journey to find out why he has lost his song!

Cedar County Conservation- Stand Up for Nature! – Tuesday, June 27th at 6:30 pm

Find your voice and show your support for a world where people and nature can grow together!

IA State Conservation Station- Water Rocks! – Tuesday, July 11th at 6:30 pm

Hands-on interactive nature activities!

Cosplay Convention – Tuesday, July 25th at 6:30 pm

Dress up as your favorite character- book, movie, cartoon, video game, etc. Fandom activity stations & door prizes!


Special Events for Adults

Library… After Hours Movie – Friday, June 16th at 7pm

The Greatest Showman movie night for adults 21+!

NAMI- In our own Voices – Wednesday, June 28th at 7pm

This presentation will help change attitudes, assumptions, and ideas about people with mental health conditions.

Painting Party – Friday, July 14th at 7pm

Try a variety of fun painting techniques and take home your own projects. Adults 18+!
