WBPL is open, with a few considerations for the safety of our community. Here’s what we can do for you right now!
30-Minute Express Browsing and 1-Hour Computer Use
Yes, you can come in the library! You may use your time to browse our collection and check out items, use a computer, or use our printer/copier/fax/scanner.
Masks required. Librarians are happy to help you, but please maintain 6 feet of distance.
Children must be at least 14 years old or accompanied by a parent or guardian.
There is a limit of 10 patrons allowed in the library at one time. We may ask you to wait to enter if we are at full capacity.
We are open from 12:00pm to 8:00pm on weekdays and 10:00am to 2:00pm Saturdays.
No-contact pick-up & delivery
Just let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll get it to you. Contact us, use the chat box on the site, or reserve something online. For no-contact pickup, we’ll get everything together and get it ready to go for you in our Poplar St (parking lot) entrance. You’ll receive a regular notification when your reserves are ready to pick up, usually within a few hours or the next business day if you placed your request after closing.
Self-serve pick-up is available in the entryway whenever the library is open. You are always welcome to come inside if you want to pick out more things. If you aren’t able to make it to the library during business hours, let us know and we can put your holds in a locker outside!
If you don’t feel comfortable coming in, we can deliver, too!
Access reliable information sources on many different topics. Highlights include:
- Brainfuse – Career assistance, adult learning, and veterans affairs support
- HelpNow – Homework help for students of all ages, including adult learners. Live tutoring, writing lab, skill building tools, question service, and language lab!
Access the databases for free when you log into our catalog at wbpl.org/catalog
The library has 2 chromebooks which can circulate outside of the library. Chromebooks only run the Chrome internet browser and plugins for the browser. They are fast but require a WiFi internet connection. Contact us or reserve one in our catalog!
If you don’t have an internet connection at home or are going to be away from home, the library has 3 hotspots available to check out and bring the internet with you wherever you go. Contact the library to reserve one. Internet service is dependent on cellular reception.
Ebooks & Audiobooks
Through bridges.overdrive.com, West Branch and Cedar County residents have access to over 40,000 electronic books, audiobooks, and magazines.
Check out Kanopy, new to the library in 2020. Kanopy includes many award winning movies and documentaries as well as many learning sets like the Great Courses videos. Kids videos include animated books of many great children’s books.
Questions and Help
Whether it is school work, researching genealogy, or any other information you might be curious about, ask at the library. Together, the library staff has over 40 years of combined experience in finding, accessing, and evaluating information for whatever your interest may be. Contact us through email, phone, or by chat.
We are having programming at the library! We have storytimes, book clubs, and special events available in person, online, or occasionally in a hybrid format. Check our calendar for upcoming events and keep an eye on our social media for announcements. Each event will give you details about where it will take place.
The library’s community room is once again available for use by outside groups. Please review the rules before booking the room. All regular library safety protocols must be observed, including mask usage and social distancing.
If you would rather meet virtually, we also have a paid, unlimited Zoom account available for use by our patrons. Just contact us to set up a meeting time. Visit here for more details and to reserve.
