Summer Library Program


The Summer Library Program at WBPL is a fun program that encourages all ages to explore new books, activities, and ideas.

As you read books and do activities throughout the months of June and July, you can earn PRIZES!

Registration begins at the library on May 28, 2024.

Kickoff Party!

Friday, June 7 at 5 pm at the library!

While you’re enjoying West Branch’s Kickoff to Summer, make sure to stop by the library! We’ll have tons of outdoor games, and we’ll be serving free cotton candy and sno-cones. If you’re not already signed up for the Summer Library Program, you can get registered at the event.

Challenges

All ages are invited to read and do our themed activities this summer!

Early Literacy Program

For newborns through those finishing PreK.
Pick up a bingo card at the library and earn prizes for reading and doing literacy-building activities with your littles!

Children’s Program

For kids finishing Kindergarten through those finishing 5th grade.
Pick up a bingo card at the library! Read and do the activities to earn prizes!

Teen Program

For youth finishing 5th grade through 12th grade.
Pick up a bingo card at the library! Read and do the activities to earn prizes!

Adult Program

For those 18 and over (or anyone finished with high school).
Sign up and get your bingo card! Every bingo earns a prize from our grown-up treasure chest. Turn in your cards for a chance to win one of three grand prizes!

Storytimes and Programs

During the summer we have weekly storytimes and activities at the library and around the community! These programs run through the months of June and July.

WBPL Teens – Wednesdays at 1:30pm @ WBPL

Activities, snacks, and fun for 6th Grade and up!

Thursday Theater – Thursdays at 1:30pm @ WBPL

Afternoon movies for all ages! Movie list.

Special Events for Families & Kids

Make your own Survival Kits – Tuesday June 11 at 6:30pm

Create mini tins of survival tools customized by you, to take on your next vacation or hiking expedition.

STEAM Night w/ Mrs. Howard (Summer Edition) – Wednesday June 19 at 6:30pm

Crafts, experiments, and fun for all ages, with a Read Renew Repeat twist!

Cockatoo Sanctuary – Tuesday July 2 at 6:30pm

Meet rescued exotic birds and learn about their conservation.

Reptile Encounter – Tuesday July 16 at 6:30pm

Meet and learn about snakes, lizards, and more.

STEAM Night w/ Mrs. Howard (Summer Edition) – Wednesday July 24 at 6:30 pm

Crafts, experiments, and fun for all ages, with a Read Renew Repeat twist!

Dissect an Owl Pellet – Tuesday July 30 at 6:30pm

Pick through a real owl pellet, learn what they are and discover what’s inside.


Special Events for Adults

Planting for Pollinators – Friday, June 21 at 6:30pm

Sarah from Cedar County Conservation will show you how to choose native plants to attract butterflies and bees.

Clothing Swap – Friday, July 12 at 7pm

Bring at least 3 gently used clothes (adult or kids) and exchange them with others, and learn tips and tricks for thrifting and upcycling your wardrobe. Intended for adults and older teens.

Library After Hours Movie Night – Friday, July 26 at 7pm

Movie TBD. Adults 21 and over only.
